One gynaecologist has provided a list of thought-provoking reasons to ditch the undergarments .Speaking to Health, gynaecologist Moore explained: "It's not good to always have the lady parts locked up. They need air like all other parts of your body."
While there are risks - apart from accidental flashing - associated with going commando, they're outweighed by the benefits.
According to Dr Moore, we run the risk of building up heat and sweat in the crotch area by covering it up every day with pants.
This is turn increases the risk of a yeast or other type of infection, she says.
If your underwear is lace or made of non-breathable material, then this risk is even bigger, as these materials irritate delicate vaginal skin and can cause rashes and allergic reactions.
