NYSC Management Finally Speaks on reported plans to pay Ex-Corps Members N75,000

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has denied that it has plans to pay former members of the scheme the sum of N75,000 each.

The NYSC said it has no such plan as reported by a section of the media recently.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the director of press of the NYSC, Mrs Bose Aderibigbe, reacted to the report in a statement on Saturday, August 12, 2017.

According to the NYSC, those who published the story relied on a false Facebook account.

“The attention of the NYSC management has been drawn to the publication which is false and misleading, the public should disregard it.

“A fake Facebook account, NYSC Online, has also been spreading the content published by some bloggers.

“We further wish to inform our esteemed stakeholders that the so-called NYSC 0nline is not the official Facebook page of the National Youth Service Corps.

“The authentic information from the NYSC’s activities can be accessed through our official Facebook page on www.facebook.com/officialnysc,” Aderibigbe said.

We earlier reported that the director-general of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Zakari Kazaure, is encouraging participants in the scheme to engage in inter-ethnic marriages.

To show his zeal to ensure this is achieved, he also promised to personally attend any of such weddings that takes place between members of the scheme.

The NYSC was set up to encourage unity among the various ethnic groups in the country through youth participation in the scheme.
