NSAC Approves Mayweather's Request For Smaller Gloves In McGregor Fight

When Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor step into the ring at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 26th, both men will be wearing eight ounce gloves rather than the mandatory 10-ounce gloves.
According to ESPN, NSAC regulations state that any boxing match contested above 147 pounds mandates 10-ounce gloves.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission had previously denied the request by both fighters to switch to smaller gloves for their upcoming 154-pound bout, however the NSAC has unanimously voted in favor of the eight ounce gloves.
McGregor, who has said that he'll knock Mayweather out within four rounds, recently told ESPN that if the NSAC allowed eight ounce gloves he could get the job done inside of two rounds.
Per ESPN,
"If we are in 8-ounce gloves, he will be floored multiple times in the first round," McGregor said. "I believe first-round KO in 8-ounce gloves. The fact I can't follow through in MMA and pound the head into the canvas and there's a 10-count in boxing, maybe I'll give him second round. But 8-ounce gloves, he will be done in two."
Floyd had agreed to box in the lighter gloves earlier this month in a Facebook post which read,
"Don't believe what you hear in the media. Don't believe what you hear on blog sites. If it's not coming directly from me, then it's not true. I'm telling McGregor, "Let's fight in 8 oz gloves". McGregor can fight in any brand he prefers or chooses. I'll be wearing 8 oz Grant gloves. Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I'm willing to accommodate. Let's give the boxing and MMA fans what they want to see."
