Drake Wants 500 Weeks On The Billboard Hot 100

Drake, being the superstar he is, is the longest running artist to continuously be on the Billboard Hot 100. Since 2009, Drake has had at least one song of the Hot 100 whether it's his own song or a feature. His streak lasted 431 weeks, which is much longer than any artist since the inception of the Billboard charts. So it was pretty shocking to hear earlier this week that it was the first time since his break-through in 2009 where he hasn't been on the Hot 100.
Late last night, TMZ pulled up  on Drake as he exited TAO restaurant in Los Angeles. The paparazzo chased him down and asked "431 weeks Drake, man. How does it feel bro?" to which Drake hit him with "I need 500" before hopping into the back of a vehicle. It's definitely a challenge that only Drake could take on, given that his efforts go back to making more tunes for our headtops.
Drake's Billboard 100 streak is the highest of any artist. He's been on the charts since "Best I Ever Had" picked up. His streak on the charts surpassed his mentor, Lil Wayne, as well as Jay-Z, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift. While at the end of his playlist More Life, he said that he was taking a break from music for the remainder of the year, last week at his annual OVO Fest, he told a sold out crowd that he was back in the studio, working on another album.
Drake has also been putting more of an emphasis lately on his entrepreneurial ventures. Just last week, it was rumored that he'd be opening another restaurant in Toronto and throughout the year, he's been pushing his whiskey brand "Virginia Brand" further. In addition to those two, it was also announced that this fall, OVO would be focusing a lot more on album releases from their artists aside from Drake.
So while Drake continues to prosper, hopefully we do get new music and with that, it'll be interesting to see if Drake can take on a 500-week challenge on the Billboard 100 again.
