Today, the Lekki and Victoria Island areas of Lagos is on flood lockdown due to the overnight torrential rains, which started at roughly 11pm last night.
Areas from Lekki Phase 1 all the way down to the Lekki Free Trade Zone have been partially submerged by flood waters. The situation has caused people to be stranded, broken down cars and much more havoc.
The President of the Association of Town Planning Consultants of Nigeria, ATPCON, Mr. Moses Ogunleye, who ealier identified the major problem of these areas as lack of good drainage system however appealed to the government in taking proactive steps for a lasting solutions.
